With the New York Knicks’ season slowly approaching, it also means that the latest installment of NBA 2K is getting released relatively soon.
In the following weeks, we will find out what ratings each player will receive for 2K’s latest installment, NBA 2K23.
While some players get extreme love when it comes to NBA 2K ratings, the Knicks are usually on the other side of the totem pole, with their players getting disrespected heading into each season.
What ratings will the New York Knicks receive in NBA 2K23?
Starting with players such as Julius Randle and RJ Barrett will be easy since we know as fans what they are capable of already.
As we get further down the roster, it will become more and more difficult pinpointing what we as fans think these players should be in comparison to what 2K Studios believes as well.
Let’s look no further and dive into what ratings New York could be looking at for NBA 2K23.
RJ Barrett’s 2K Rating: 86 Overall
RJ Barrett had himself a career year in his third season and he’s just getting started. After averaging 17 points in his sophomore campaign in the league, Barrett took the next step and averaged 20 points per game and was extremely impressive after the All-Star break.
Barrett posted 24.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.8 assists post All-Star break, showing fans that he is on the verge of yet another breakout season.
Will Barrett be given an 86 by 2K’s standards? It’s definitely possible, but I can envision them giving him either an 84 or an 85 at the very least.
Julius Randle’s 2K Rating: 84 Overall
While Randle may have had a down year after coming off an All-NBA Second Team season, he still managed to post good numbers.
The fans surely have not been fond of Randle as of late, but 2K should still give him a decent rating considering he averaged 20 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists.
Randle’s stats may not jump off the board entirely when it comes to other stars, and that’s fair. However, Randle is still in some elite company with his statistics.
If his season average for rebounds had reached 10 per game (being off by just 0.1), Randle would have been one of three players to average 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 5.0 assists this season, alongside MVPs Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic.
For Randle to be any rating below an 83 would be a crime, no matter what the fans think and how the media perceives him.
Jalen Brunson’s 2K Rating: 83 Overall
Before signing with the Knicks, Jalen Brunson played a pivotal role on a Dallas Mavericks squad that reached the Western Conference Finals just a couple of months ago.
That alone could play a big part in the Villanova product’s 2K rating that we could be seeing when the game gets released in just a few weeks.
Outside of his 21.3 points per game outburst in the playoffs, Brunson averaged 16.3 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.9 rebounds in his final year with the Mavericks.
Brunson will look to make his mark on a Knicks team that has struggled to find consistency at the point guard position, having had Alec Burks (whose traditionally a small forward) run the point just last year.
The floor of Brunson’s rating will look interesting and will depend on how heavily 2K will look at his playoff performance versus his performance in the regular season. Whatever his rating may be, it will be an exciting season and Brunson will have plenty of time to boost his rating.
Mitchell Robinson’s 2K Rating: 82 Overall
It’s hard to come around solid starting centers in this league, but Mitchell Robinson is one of a few that does damage on the inside on both offense and defense.
In 2021-22, Robinson averaged 8.5 points and 8.6 rebounds on 76% shooting from the field, which would have been a record had he taken enough shots throughout the course of the season.
While his stats don’t jump off the board, he is a great glue guy and can get a rebound at will. Robinson is one of the best offensive rebounders in the NBA, averaging 4.1 per game.
I envision another successful season for Mitch, who just signed a 4-year contract worth $60 million. In recent 2K games, Robinson has been between 80-83. And after last year’s campaign, he should remain within that range, with my guess being an 82 overall, which was his rating in NBA 2K22.

going down with an ankle injury</a>.</p>
<p>It’s currently unknown what Rose will provide this season for the Knicks considering the influx of young players, but if 2K were to put Rose at either a 78 or a 79, it would seem right because his floor is currently unknown.</p>
<p>While he could underperform next season, there is still hope that he can be a shell of his former self for the Orange and Blue.</p>
<h3>Evan Fournier’s 2K Rating: 79 Overall</h3>
<p>Trying to project Evan Fournier’s overall isn’t the easiest thing in the world since he had a productive season on the offensive end, despite criticism from fans and the media.</p>
<p>It’s hard to forget that in just his first season, Fournier broke the Knicks’ franchise record for most threes in a season. He scored 14.1 points per game on a near 39% clip from behind the three-point arc, doing a majority of his damage from distance this past campaign.</p>
<p>If anything at all, the Frenchman’s three-point rating should be more respected than his overall rating since he shot the lights out last season.</p>
<p>I can imagine Fournier at a 79 but if 2K were to rank him anywhere between a 77-80, I wouldn’t be surprised.</p>
<h3>Immanuel Quickley’s 2K Rating: 79 Overall</h3>
<p>After a great first season in New York, Immanuel Quickley was supposed to get an increase in minutes, which would have boosted his 2K rating.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, that’s not how it ended up, but Quickley still remains a valuable asset on this Knicks squad with the ability to shake a player off the dribble and knock down the three-ball.</p>
<p>At one point, Quickley was an 80 overall, playing very good basketball for the club. After a small sample size of what he is capable of <a href=https://dailyknicks.com/2022/08/16/predicting-knicks-nba-2k23-ratings/"https://dailyknicks.com/2022/04/04/immanuel-quickley-records-triple-double-despite-new-york-knicks-coach-tom-thibodeau/">at the end of this past season</a> (which included a 30-point triple-double), Quickley is ready to shine once again at the Garden as another high-energy player off the bench.</p>
<p>I believe a 79 overall is a fair rating since he’s proven his worth in the league thus far and has a whole lot of room to improve.</p>
<h3>Obi Toppin’s 2K Rating: 78 Overall</h3>
<p>Another high-energy guy for the Knicks, Obi Toppin is <a href=https://dailyknicks.com/2022/08/16/predicting-knicks-nba-2k23-ratings/"https://dailyknicks.com/2022/05/05/knicks-stunt-obi-toppin-growth-julius-randle-stays/">unfortunately in the shadow of Julius Randle</a>, as he sees minimal playing time with Randle spending a majority of the game at the power forward position.</p>
<p>Like Quickley, Toppin had the chance to show the Knicks what he’s capable of at the end of 2021-22. Given the opportunity, Toppin excelled, most notably scoring 42 points in a home win over the Toronto Raptors.</p>
<p>Having been a 77 overall last season, I believe that a 78 overall is fair for Toppin. Despite the minimal minutes, Toppin has shown lots of promise in just two seasons in the league.</p>
<p>Toppin will look to breakout this season, meaning his overall could be boosted should he be given the minutes.</p>

was shut down due to a right shoulder injury</a>.</p>
<p>I still like the upside for Reddish given that he is only 22 years old, but going forward he must prove to the front office along with the fans that he can contribute nightly when given the chance.</p>
<p>Reddish was rated as a 77 last season for Atlanta and New York. Reddish averaged 11.9 points for the Hawks last season and showed lots of promise until he was traded to the Knicks and had a difficult time finding his way into the rotation.</p>
<p>With Alec Burks being shipped off to the Pistons this offseason, Reddish will have a great opportunity to show everyone what he is worth.</p>
<p>A 75 overall rating may seem unfair, but when given the chance, Reddish will rise to the opportunity. I can’t see Reddish being a 75 overall by the end of the 2022-23 season (if he’s even rated that low to begin with).</p>
<h3>Jericho Sims’ 2K Rating: 72 Overall</h3>
<p>Recently promoted to the Knicks’ roster full-time, Jericho Sims is an underrated player for this team.</p>
<p>Originally drafted 58th overall in 2021, Sim’s solid play at the center position during the NBA Summer League combined with his off-the-charts athleticism makes people wonder why he wasn’t drafted higher.</p>
<p>Sims was a 71 overall in last year’s installment of NBA 2K. I’ve bumped him up one overall due to his potential and crazy jumping, but I wouldn’t be surprised if his overall stays put as is.</p>
<p>Now being the third-string center for the Knicks, I’m certain there will be injuries at any given position on the floor. This will give Sims the chance to show what he’s got in order to see a boost in his 2K rating.</p>
<h3>Miles McBride’s 2K Rating: 71 Overall</h3>
<p>The former West Virginia product didn’t see much playing time in his first year and with a logjam at the point guard position, it’s unlikely that McBride will see much of the floor in his second year in the league.</p>
<p>Known as an elite defender, McBride is a good disruptor, getting into the passing lanes on defense.</p>
<p>He wasn’t able to show much of his offensive game during the Summer League, having guys like Feron Hunt, Jericho Sims, and Quentin Grimes taking away looks.</p>
<p>I placed him at his rating from last year simply because he hasn’t had too much time out on the court for the Knicks. If he were to show some more improvement on the offensive side of the ball, I could see his rating go up slightly over the course of the year.</p>
<p>It’s currently unknown when 2K is going to release the official ratings for NBA 2K23, but it’s likely that they’ll be released this month, with the game set to be released in early September.</p>
<p>NBA 2K23 will hit stores on Friday, Sept. 9, starting at $59.99 for current-gen consoles and $69.99 for next-gen consoles.</p>
