SNY’s Ian Begley reported on the NY Knicks’ interest in Oladipo and reiterated those thoughts on his show, The Putback. Begley said that there are people in the Knicks’ organization who “See Oladipo as a really valuable addition to what they have now.” The key thing to note is that it’s still unclear whether or not some of the NY Knicks’ top decision-makers are among those pro-Oladipo voices.
That doesn’t mean Oladipo comes without a ton of risk. Oladipo is a pending free agent, who has already turned down a lot of money and has a scary injury history. I think overall, most would be fine with an Oladipo trade if the Knicks mitigated the risk and were able to get him for solid value. The proposed trade in the aforementioned article included Kevin Knox, the Pistons’ 2nd round pick, and Reggie Bullock.
Would that get the deal done? Hard to say, especially because the NY Knicks will certainly have competition for Oladipo. Let’s look at some of the possible Oladipo suitors around the NBA.
NY Knicks get closer to the trade deadline, some rumors have heated up while others have cooled down. Victor Oladipo is a name that has certainly picked up some steam in recent weeks.

I detailed the <a href=https://dailyknicks.com/2021/03/10/ny-knicks-3-possible-competitors-for-victor-oladipo/"https://dailyknicks.com/2021/03/07/knicks-eyeing-oladipo-missing-piece/">pros and cons of a trade Oladipo over the weekend. Oladipo would slide into the Knicks’ rotation pretty effortlessly – His positional fit along with what he brings on offense and defense could take the NY Knicks to greater heights this season.

Knicks Rumors: Warriors could drive up the price for the NY Knicks

The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor <a href=https://dailyknicks.com/2021/03/10/ny-knicks-3-possible-competitors-for-victor-oladipo/"https://www.theringer.com/nba/2021/3/8/22319031/nba-power-rankings-midseason-brooklyn-nets" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recently reported that the Golden State Warriors have shown interest in Victor Oladipo. The Warriors have the same exact record as the Knicks at 19-18, but they currently sit 9th in the competitive Western Conference.

The Warriors are in an interesting spot this season – Heading into the year, they felt like they could be a contender in the West. That was until Klay Thompson suffered yet another devastating injury in November, and the team had to adjust their expectations.

The Warriors want to remain competitive. Outside of Klay Thompson, the team has been mostly healthy, and they want to take advantage of the remaining prime years of their superstar Stephen Curry. Oladipo would be an interesting fit alongside him.

While the focal point of the team will always be Curry, Oladipo can provide them with some secondary playmaking that they don’t have. It would take a lot of pressure off their star. Oladipo’s all-around game would fit nicely with the roster The Warriors currently have, and I think playing for Steve Kerr could reinvigorate Oladipo.

The Rockets would surely inquire about the Warriors’ prized prospect James Wiseman, but I see no world where the Warriors would give him up. The Warriors, like the NY Knicks, have a high 2nd round pick – They own the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 2021 2nd rounder AND their 1st rounder (Top-3 Protected). I don’t think they’d be willing to trade the 1st, but they certainly could build an interesting package involving some combinations of Kelly Oubre, other draft picks, Eric Paschall, Mycal Mulder, and more.
