The Philadelphia 76ers trade offer

NY Knicks Competitor for Buddy Hield #1 – The 76ers
If the Sixers want to improve their chances for a championship, they will need to get another scorer.
After Joel Embiid, their 2nd and 3rd scoring options are Tobias Harris and Seth Curry, that simply isn’t enough.
Now, Embiid will miss at least two weeks with a bone bruise. The acquisition of Hield would improve their offense significantly and their chances of making it to the Finals. Below is what the Sixers could offer the Kings for Hield.
Kings Get
Tyrese Maxey
Matisse Thybulle
Danny Green
2021 1st Rd Pick, 2023 2nd Rd Pick
The Sixers’ best possible offer would include an intriguing combo rookie guard in Tyrese Maxey to replace Hield.
Another young player on a rookie-scale contract is a defensive ace, Matisse Thybulle, who can guard all three perimeter positions. He would be a great addition to one of the worst perimeter defenses in the NBA.
They would also include draft capital, their 2021 1st round pick which will be in the 20+ range, and a 2nd round pick in the coveted 2023 draft (possible double draft).
Danny Green would be added for salary matching purposes. He could possibly get flipped for other assets. This package is long on potential but does not return any established players, especially to improve the frontcourt.
The only way I see the Kings entertaining this offer is if they are high on Maxey and Thybulle and feel they could step in and contribute right away. If that is the case then they might look to swap Cory Joseph for some front-court help has Marvin Bagley has been a major disappointment.
NY Knicks at the deadline.

Trades are one of the most popular topics amongst fans, but as I mentioned in my article <a href=https://dailyknicks.com/2021/03/17/ny-knicks-3-trades-for-buddy-hield/2/"https://dailyknicks.com/2021/02/22/knicks-3-biggest-competitors-bradley-beal/">Knicks’ 3 biggest competitors for Bradley Beal, the scenarios talked about rarely happen for two reasons.

The first is that fans tend to overvalue their own players.

The second is that no one considers what other teams are willing to offer for a player.

In this article, I explore what it would take to trade for Buddy Hield.

<iframe loading="lazy" width="500" height="281" src=https://dailyknicks.com/2021/03/17/ny-knicks-3-trades-for-buddy-hield/2/"https://www.youtube.com/embed/_n03qIe8zko?feature=oembed%22 frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen>

While <a href=https://dailyknicks.com/2021/03/17/ny-knicks-3-trades-for-buddy-hield/2/"https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/hieldbu01.html" ref="nofollow">Buddy Hield isn’t the first player that gets mentioned in <a href=https://dailyknicks.com/2021/03/17/ny-knicks-3-trades-for-buddy-hield/2/"https://www.nbaanalysis.net/2021/03/11/nba-rumors-sacramento-kings-new-york-knicks-trade-buddy-hield-2/">possible trades to the Knicks since he doesn’t have the same connection points as other players, he definitely looks like one of the more realistic trade targets.

When you study Sacramento’s situation you realize that they are going to have to make some tough financial decisions after this season.

You also know that the owner, Vivek Ranadive, is desperate to win. The Kings haven’t been to the playoffs since 2006 and the last playoff series they won was in 2004.

Those were the Chris Webber, Mike Bibby, Peja Stojakovic, and Vlade Divac lead teams. That is a longer playoff drought than the Knicks’.

Should the NY Knicks make a move for Buddy Hield?

The Kings are looking to save money and rebuild quickly, those goals usually run counter to each other.

When you look at Sacramento’s cap sheet for next season, you see that <a href=https://dailyknicks.com/2021/03/17/ny-knicks-3-trades-for-buddy-hield/2/"https://www.spotrac.com/nba/sacramento-kings/deaaron-fox-23600/#:~:text=De'Aaron%20Fox%20signed%20a%203%20year%20/%20$16,472,880,$6,392,760%20and%20a%20dead%20cap%20value%20of%20$6,392,760.">De’Aaron Fox’s salary is going to increase by $20M as he will no longer be on a rookie contract.

The Kings will have 3 players making over $20M next season, De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield, and Harrison Barnes, which is a lot for a bad team.

They will also be looking to resign their Center, Richaud Holmes.

Sacramento is not going to trade Fox since he is their franchise player. They are not likely to trade Harrison Barnes since he is their only good frontcourt player and has strong ties to the owner, Ranadive, and the head coach Luke Walton.

The three of them have relationships from their time in Golden State.

The Kings also have depth at the guard position thanks to the emergence of rookie Tyrese Haliburton. They also have a solid role player in Cory Joseph that will make $12M next season.

All these factors make Hield the odd man out.

There are many playoff teams that could use an outside shooter like Buddy Hield, but only two can provide a competitive offer to counter the Knicks.

NY Knicks Competitor for Buddy Hield #2 – The Nuggets

The Nuggets have a decision to make, go all in or punt on the season and look to reload in the summer.

The Nuggets surprised many last season in the Bubble, they came back from two 3-1 deficits to make it to the Conference Finals. But the reality is that they are not a true contender.

Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray are a cut below the top duos in the West and they never found someone to replace Jerami Grant’s production.

For a franchise that hasn’t won a championship and whose last real shot at a ring was in the 2009-10 campaign when the team was led by Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups, it makes sense to go for it now.

Having Buddy Hield would give them a Big 3 to compete against the duos of the Jazz, Lakers, and Clippers. The best trade proposal from Denver would be as follows:
