Pass or Pursue on Bleacher Report’s 5 latest Knicks trade ideas

With how much fun I had in my previous game of pass or pursue, I figured it would be a good idea to look at some other potential Knicks trades written by other journalists to see whether or not it would be a good idea to pull them off.

This time, we will be looking at trades suggested by Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale, who named his article, ‘Trade Ideas to Save the New York Knicks’ Season.’ This was a lot more interesting than the previous pass or pursue, as these moves involved more than just Derrick Rose and Immanuel Quickley.

The Knicks currently sit at .500 and considering the poor play by some of their key players, some trades could be on the way. I do not know if the Knicks will take a massive leap of faith with a disgruntled star, or make some small moves for veterans, however, it definitely seems as if trades are imminent.

Trade #1: A three-team trade that sends Myles Turner to New York

This was not a good way to start the article and in all honesty, I don’t know if I understand why Favale thought this trade would be a good idea for the Knicks. While Myles Turner is certainly a good player and would fit tremendously in New York, the pieces he wants to send out for Turner are simply too much.

Turner has turned himself into a tremendous player this season, averaging 17.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game while shooting 55.2% from the field and 41.8% from three on four attempts per game. However, the Knicks would simply be giving up too many assets.

Yes, Cam Reddish and Evan Fournier are no longer in the lineup, but to give up arguably the Knicks’ best defensive player, the team’s only backup power forward, and a first-round pick is too much to give up for a player who is just now playing at a high level.

I’m sure Turner can keep up this high level of play, however, it is just way too much to invest in a player who Thibs likely won’t even properly utilize. The spacing Turner would provide could be an extremely valuable asset to the offense, but again, it’s just too many assets to throw in for two players.

Josh Richardson would be a nice addition to the roster and is a player I’ve suggested the Knicks target in the past. However, the idea of essentially swapping him for Mitchell Robinson doesn’t make much sense.

Overall, I love the players the Knicks would be receiving in this trade, but the package doesn’t make sense for the team at all.
