3 players Knicks can trade for to help bolster bench ahead of deadline

Even in the Knicks&#8217; two recent blowout wins versus the Suns and Rockets, the bench didn&#8217;t perform that well.</p> <p>Personally, I&#8217;d rather hold onto players like McBride, as he is still young and full of potential, but others such as Hartenstein, Rose, <a href=https://dailyknicks.com/2023/01/09/3-players-knicks-trade-help-bolster-bench-ahead-deadline-prince-harris-hield/2/"https://dailyknicks.com/2023/01/03/evan-fournier-proven-remain-knicks-rotation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Evan Fournier</a>, and Cam Reddish should all be traded away for more consistent or just simply better role players.</p> <p>New York&#8217;s bench will be receiving a boost when the team gets RJ Barrett back, but changes still need to be made in order to make the Knicks better.</p> <h2>3 players the Knicks can trade for to help bolster their bench</h2> <h3>1: SF Taurean Prince, Minnesota Timberwolves</h3> <p>With the Minnesota Timberwolves having a disappointing first half of the season, they will likely look to make some moves to shake up the roster. If that is the case, there is a good chance they will try to offload 3-and-D wing Taurean Prince.</p> <p>Prince has always been one of the more solid role players in the NBA, and on the Knicks, he could play a real role on a team that is looking to make the playoffs.</p> <p>Through 21 games played, Prince is averaging 8.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists while shooting 50.8% from the field and 39.1% from three on 3.3 attempts per game. If this ends up being the case, the Knicks should not hesitate to make a move for the 28-year-old.</p> <p>In 12 games played this season, Harris is averaging 9.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.6 assists while shooting 47.6% from the field and 41.5% from three on 3.4 attempts per game. Harris&#8217; efficiency may be a little flukey due to his limited amount of games played, but he has been one of the better 3-and-D guards in the NBA for a while now, which is where his true value lies.</p> <p>Speaking of value, Harris is a player that shouldn&#8217;t cost that much compared to other role players in the league. If Leon Rose is given the opportunity to make a move for him, he should not hesitate, as there is no doubt that Harris would make the Knicks a better team.</p> <p>This is a player to trade for in case McBride&#8217;s offense does not get any better as the season goes on. Not only would Harris be the far superior offensive player compared to McBride, but his defense is not that far of a drop-off.</p> <p>Harris is one of those players that every team either in the playoffs or making a push for the playoffs would love to have on their roster.
