Knicks vs. Magic 2022 NBA Summer League preview for July 14

After having two days off, the New York Knicks’ summer squad will be back in action on Thursday night against the Orlando Magic. After losing 88-77 to the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday, New York sits at 2-1.

For the third game in a row, Quentin Grimes scored 24 points (9-of-17) and led all scorers. Grimes also added four rebounds, three steals, and one assist. Deuce McBride had 16 points (6-of-15), four assists, three steals, and one rebound. Feron Hunt finished with 12 points (5-of-10), four rebounds, and four assists. Jericho Sims had 11 rebounds.

On Monday, Orlando lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder, 84-81. Justin James led the Magic with 16 points (6-of-9). Tommy Kuhse had 14 points (6-of-10), Devin Cannady finished with 12 (3-of-10), Zavier Simpson had 11 (3-of-14), and Emanuel Terry posted 10 points (3-of-7) and 14 rebounds.

Orlando was without No. 1 pick Paolo Banchero, who played in the Magic’s first two games. The organization’s seen all that it needed to from Banchero.

If the Knicks win on Thursday, they’ll sit at 3-1 and will still have a chance to make it to the championship game. Fans are surely more focused on New York getting rings in Las Vegas than monitoring the Donovan Mitchell situation, right?
