3 Role players the Knicks should target on the trade market

With the Knicks’ offseason underway, New York should be looking to improve the current state of the roster. The playoff run they made this season was rather impressive. However, the way in which they went out left much to be desired and if the front office is serious about making the team competitive, they will make some moves before the start of next season.

Leon Rose doesn’t have to necessarily go for a superstar this offseason. In fact, the best option might be to just target smaller-priced role players that specialize in areas the Knicks weren’t so great in.

3. SF/PF Taurean Prince

With the Timberwolves having a relatively disappointing season in 2022-23, we could see them look to shake things up this offseason. If this becomes the case, the Knicks should definitely look into acquiring some of their role players. More specifically, if Taurean Prince is made available, the Knicks should do their due diligence in trying to acquire the 29-year-old.

Prince be somewhat cheap to acquire, but he would be a great addition and fit to the bench. Not only was he a great three-point shooter, shooting 38.1% from three on 3.6 attempts, but he has also been a very solid defender since taking on a bigger role off the bench.

As a whole, Prince averaged 9.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game while shooting 46.7% from the field. Adding this sort of player to a bench that already has Immanuel Quickley and Josh Hart would help improve the team tremendously.

Prince is one of the more versatile role players in the NBA on either side of the ball and is a player that teams will be all over if he’s made available. If Rose is serious about improving the bench, then adding a player like Prince is something that has to be done.
