The 2022-23 NBA season is right around the corner! Training camp started on Monday, and the preseason starts on Oct. 4. Then, it is on to opening night! Before then, regular season team rosters will have to be finalized. There are a few players on the New York Knicks that will have to work hard to get time on the court. We will know who was working hard during the offseason from training camp.

4 Knicks players that will use training camp, preseason to showcase their skills

4. Trevor Keels

The New York Knicks selected Trevor Keels with the 42nd pick in the 2022 draft. Keels, a one-and-done Duke product, will have his work cut out for him in his rookie season. As we all know, Coach Thibodeau doesn’t favor his young players, especially rookies.

Keels will have a tough time trying to crack the lineup on a two-way contract. He will find himself playing stints throughout the season with the Westchester Knicks, the Knicks’ G League affiliate. Hopefully, he has entered training camp in shape, ready to work, and willing to do whatever Thibs needs him to do.

The six-foot-five teenager played in the Summer League in July and averaged six points, four rebounds, and two assists. I’m sure he’ll see some action in the preseason and hopefully, he’ll take advantage of it.

It’s a good thing that he has fellow Duke alums RJ Barrett, and Cam Reddish to guide him in his rookie year. The trio was spotted on the Duke University campus working out with new Blue Devils Head Coach Jon Scheyer a couple of weeks ago.
